BeamBridge is made by WELite, a film-lighting outfit based in Budapest. We work as lighting crew on international productions, and everything here started as a tool we needed for our own jobs.

Who we are

WELite is a film-lighting company: gaffers, board operators and technicians who spend their days on set, on location and in trucks. Our work takes us across productions of every size, at home and abroad, which means we meet a lot of rigs, a lot of venues and a lot of networks that were never designed to carry lighting data. Why this exists

We keep looking for developments that make our own work easier and better — fewer trips across a location, fewer unknowns, fewer things that can only be fixed by standing next to them. BeamBridge came out of exactly that habit. We needed sACN and Art-Net to travel reliably between places that had no network in common, and we needed to see and fix the far end from wherever we happened to be standing. So we built it.

We use it ourselves, and it keeps growing

BeamBridge is not a product we shipped and walked away from — it is in active use on our own productions, and it is developed continuously from what comes up while we are using it. Nearly every feature on this site can be traced back to a specific problem on a specific job: a venue with no wired network, a fixture that needed re-addressing from the other side of a city, a DoP who wanted faders in the DIT tent. When set work turns up something the system cannot do yet, that becomes the next thing we build.

That is also why the field notes read the way they do. They are written from the job, not from a brochure.
